I've always loved Davenport's and visited the MB location often. I was in the area and went to the one in Vestavia. It was an amazingggg experience. I was immediately greeted and seated. My server was attentive and made sure I didn't need anything. The pizza was great, as expected. This is a great place to make a stop for lunch. The service is quick!
Being a New Yorker I like to find real authentic New York pizza and this is as close to it as you're gonna get down here. I always ask for pie cut instead of square cut because I'm used to that type of pizza The pizza comes out piping hot so I suggest waiting a few minutes before you dig in Emily W was our server today and she was very attentive and sweet It was a Saturday afternoon, not very busy, which is usually not the case when you go on the weekends The bathrooms are very clean the restaurants very clean Of course I'll be back becauseit's so delicious If you haven't been in, you're missing out
What is going on everyone I have yet another review here for you. I have to space these things out okay. Anyways this past Saturday me and my cousin ventured out over to Vestavia Hills, AL to try out Davenport's Pizza Palace second location to try it for consistency. I say that because they have a Mountain Brook, AL location and I've been there before but never reviewed it. This location is in a great spot scenery is great and an awesome place to hang out. Both locations have an arcade area with really cool games as well. This place was extremely busy but the staff was so kind and they were doing a great job. Also to add to that for my drinkers they have a bar and a drink menu too! Now for the pizza we ordered the meat lovers and as always very good. Crispy crust and you can tell they use fresh cheese and fresh ingredients in general. I'm going to pull a Dave Portnoy and give this pizza an 8.2 out of 10. There is a reason this place always makes it on the list as one of the best places to get pizza in all of Alabama and it is indeed one of my favorite places to go. Go check them out at either location and enjoy their great food just like I did. In no particular order my favorite pizza places are Pizza Grace, 2 Dough Girlz Pizzeria , and Davenport's Pizza.
Let's talk about it Davenport's Pizza Palace 700 Montgomery Hwy, Suite 193, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216 So I tried a pizza spot the other day for lunch and it was good! The menu is very limited as well as the bar. They only offer wine and beer. They're looking to get a full bar soon according to what I was told. I had a meat lovers pizza and it was good. You can eat some there and save some for later and this was the "small". Check them out and let me know what you think. I've been to the new location twice now for lunch and ordered the same lunch special with a personal sausage & pepperoni pizza and a fountain drink. Service has been good both times but I hope they have more help when it is busier. Crust is very thin and just the right combination of crispy and foldable. Both times I had at least a fourth of the pizza left to carry home for later. I love that they have Coke Zero instead of just Diet Coke. I need to come back when I have more time to peruse the displays of Jim Davenport's baseball career. I really like the feel of an old fashioned family pizza place with the checkered table cloths.
The pizza was so good last time that I decided to return with my husband. Instead of a late lunch like I had with my dad, my husband and I went for dinner on a Thursday night. Lot more crowded, but luckily, there was a table available in one of the cute booths. The pizza was incredible. We split a 15", and on my half, I got pineapple, onions, and pepperoni. The pizza was cooked to perfection, and I like that it is cut I to small bites. Unfortunately, the service wasn't the best. We sat for about 15 minutes before anyone came to the table. I finally flagged down a waitress and explained the situation. She apologized and explained that they had been having trouble that evening. Once we were assigned a waitress, things were better. Good evening overall. Also, my husband was glad they had the Blood Orange Goat Island on draft.
